Toyota Belta (Replacement for VIOS)

The Toyota Belta (referred to in North American markets as the Toyota Yaris) is a compact sedan manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation. It is basically a redesigned and sportier version of the discontinued Toyota Platz, and is similar to the Toyota Vitz.

Toyota Singapore, with Thailand confirmed the launch of the new Belta. Only the 1.5 L engine is offered in both Singapore and Thailand. In Indonesia, the new Belta will be launched in April 2007.

There’s rumors said that Toyota will bring Belta 1.3 to Malaysia instead of Vios 1.3. Indonesia and Philliphines both receive 1.3 version of Toyota Vios and most probably, Malaysian will received the Belta version. Powered by 1.3 2SZ-FE with Super CVT-i continuously variable transmission, it’s gonna be a popular choice by Malaysian. The entry level of Belta is powered by 1.0L. [via]
