kelantan traditional delicacies

Kelantan food has always been popular, but not many know of the unusual names of the various delicacies.

Names of traditional sweets and cakes like tahi itik (duck’s droppings) and badak berendam (bathing hippos) are among them.

“Nasi 100” is a rice dish that contains 100 herbs, and is a form of traditional medicine usually consumed by women in the post-natal period.

These delicious traditional dishes are among many that are unique to the state.

The better-known Kelantan dishes include nasi kerabu, nasi berlauk, nasi tumpang, laksam and solok lada, and they are so popular that they are being used to boost tourism here.

Kelantan Tourism Association vice-president Mustafa Ibrahim said there were more than 170 Kelantan traditional delights.

“Kelantan is not only renowned for the its unique culture, but also for its traditional kuih (Malay cakes) heritage,” he said.

To ensure that the various traditional kuih are not lost in time, the Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry has compiled the recipes in a book.

The ministry’s deputy secretary-general Datuk Che Mat Md Daud said this was done in 2005, and added that it would be a shame if the traditional recipes were lost.

the story of mickey, minnie, goofy and a gay snowman

Get your paws off me ... Goofy grabs Minnie's boobs from behind backstage at the Magic Kingdom

In the World of Disney, it seems, it's OK to be gay, but you'd better not pretend good old asexual Mickey Mouse has any of those tendencies.

According to reports in England's Sun and elsewhere, the video posted on YouTube.com shows some Disneyland Paris staffers acting kinky backstage while dressed as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and a snowman.

"The footage showed Goofy grabbing Minnie Mouse from behind before she was cornered for more groping by a giant snowman, who later had his way with Mickey Mouse too," said the version offered by the German Press Agency.

The short clip was removed from YouTube shortly after Disney executives found out about it and issued this statement: "We are aware of the video that was taken in an area not accessible to guests at Disneyland Resort Paris.

We regret any offense it might cause. Action has been taken to prevent this happening again."

Where does Elton fit in? The "legendary songwriter" was one of a number of people honored by Disney for their contributions to "unparalleled creativity, quality and innovation."

how to gain infamy as a legendary stupid criminal

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Here's How:

  1. Hide marijuana under your hood and then take the car for an oil change. 45 year-old Amy Brasher was arrested after a mechanic found 18 packages of marijuana packed in the engine compartment of the car Brasher brought in for an oil change. Brasher later said she didn't realize the mechanic needed to lift the hood to change the oil.
  2. Post your bail in coins after being charged with stealing from vending machines. Police charged Gregory Rosa, 25, with a string of vending machine robberies in January when he fled from police inexplicably when they spotted him loitering around a vending machine and later tried to post his $400 bail in coins.
  3. Leave your license plate at the scene of a crime. Kentucky: Two men tried to pull the front off a cash machine by running a chain from the machine to the bumper of their pickup truck. Instead of pulling the front panel off the machine, they pulled the bumper off the truck. Scared, they left the scene and drove home, leaving the bumper and the attached license plate at the scene.
  4. Forget that your index finger doesn't really shoot bullets. Steven Richard King was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon. King used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun, but failed to keep his hand in his pocket.
  5. Go ahead and argue over Kool-Aid and make sure you have your gun. Levon Howard lost a shoot-out with his roommate Edwin Heyliger, who was charged with murder. Howard had broken into Heyliger's room, angry that someone had drunk his Kool-Aid, and in the ensuing argument, both scrambled for guns.
  6. Assume the judge's name rhymes with "no way." At his sentencing for driving a school bus while drunk, Harold Keith Lone showed up in court staggering, shouting obscenities, gesturing wildly and with alcohol on his breath. Asked if he were drunk, Lone replied, "No way. No way, Jose."
  7. Allow your pet igunana to take the wheel. When they pulled over a car that was weaving, cops found Finley the iguana at the wheel. The real driver, John Ruppell, was slouched in the front seat. He was charged with drunken driving and Finley was taken to the SPCA.
  8. Forget to check whether uniformed cops are in line at the store you decide to rob. A masked gunman walked into a gas station in Shreveport, Louisiana, and demanded money, but he apparently didn’t see that the line included a police officer in full uniform. L.J. Scott, a member of the Shreveport Police Department’s armed robbery task force, told our would-be robber to put his hands up. Scott confiscated the handgun and arrested the would-be robber, identified as 21-year-old Derek Pierson Jr.
  9. When in court on charges of stealing shoes, display the shoes you stole. In court, shoe store robbery suspect Charles Taylor propped his feet up on the defense table while wearing a pair of tan boots he'd taken from the store at knife point.
  10. Use the elevator while making an escape. Sitting in a San Antonio room awaiting sentencing, convicted burglar Adam Flores, 20, fled when a bailiff unfastened his handcuffs. Police caught him a minute later as he stood calmly waiting for an elevator at the end of the hall.

hotdog for sale

Warning: this post carried quite a disgusting story. It involves chewed, but undigested, hot dogs.

Would You Be So Kind as to Vomit Your Hot Dogs into my Bag?

"At the Kansas State Fair teams of sheriff’s officers, media personalities, firefighters and grocery clerks competed in this year’s hot dog eating contest, which drew a totoal of 28 competitors.

"Some were looking for entertainment. Others wanted a free lunch. But for Pat Garety there was a very specific reason he was there.

"Takeru Kobayashi, who on July 4, 2004, ate 53 1/2 hot dogs and buns in just 12 minutes was the winner and afterward when he went to rid himself of his full stomach he saw Pat Garety blocking his way to the bathroom.

"Garety held in his hand five one hundred dollar bills and requested Takeru deposit his vomit in a special “clean” bag.

Takeru obliged and left $500 richer. It appears Garety is planning on selling his bag of hot dog chunks on Ebay and expects to net a quick two - three thousand dollars for the mess."

January 5, 2007 (SAN JOSE, Calif.) - Drinking on the job can get you in trouble, especially if you're a crook. Authorities in Northern California charge Esteban Avila Junior broke into a house, then passed out after helping himself to some beans and booze. Santa Clara County deputies say they found the suspect catching some "Z's" on the floor of the living room.

The homeowner had moved out a week earlier, but stopped by the house and suspected something might be wrong. The owner and a neighbor crept into the home, saw the sleeping man and called the cops. Deputies arrested the suspect and say he had some outstanding warrants, too.

don't fall for home-made liquor in pubs

KUALA LUMPUR: From the labels, a person could be duped into thinking they are famous liquor brands.

Beware. The brandy or premium whisky that you get at your favourite club or pub could be nothing more than a home-brewed concoction of mineral water, caramel and sub-quality liquor.

Enforcement officers from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry who raided a house in Taman Prima Impian in Segambut here believe some entertainment outlets in the Klang Valley may be serving this homemade liquor to their customers.

The enforcers seized 1,000 bottles of adulterated liquor that can fetch about RM50,000 for the producer from the house in the noon raid on Wednesday.

danger of cell phones

VALLEJO, California (AP) - A cell phone apparently ignited in a man's pocket and started a fire that burned his hotel room and caused severe burns over half his body, fire department officials said.

Luis Picaso, 59, was in stable condition Monday with second- and third-degree burns to his upper body, back, right arm and right leg, Vallejo Fire Department assistant chief Kurt Henke said.

Firefighters arrived at the residential hotel Saturday night to find Picaso lying on the bathroom floor after a malfunctioning cell phone in his pants pocket set fire to his nylon and polyester clothes, Henke said.

The flames spread to a plastic chair, setting off a sprinkler that held the fire in check, he said.

Authorities declined to name the phone's manufacturer and model.

The fire and water caused $75,000 (euro57,955) damage to the room and a business on the ground floor, Henke said.-AP

going abroad or not to go?

KOTA BARU: The country can reap immense benefits from professionals who return to Malaysia with their vast experience after working abroad.

In saying this, Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed added that Malaysians who sought greener pastures overseas were not unpatriotic.

“It is a global trend. Highly-skilled people are sought after all over the world,” he told reporters after a meeting with the Jeli district education department officials and principals here yesterday.

“Of course, we want to stop a brain drain in certain critical areas but we feel those who go overseas to work can gain valuable experience and good income,” he said.

Mustapa was commenting on a report in The Star that Malaysian professionals who hold an MBA from a British-approved institution would stand a better chance of working in Britain.

The report said the prospective professionals were mostly doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers and entrepreneurs, who must score at least 75 points in Britain's highly skilled migrant programme (HSMP).

Mustapa said that besides the perceived better quality of life, Malaysians go abroad for reasons that included better opportunities, better salary and promotion prospects, and wider exposure.

However, he said the Government discouraged any mass migration of skilled workers in critical areas such as medicine, dentistry, engineering and science.

working in britain? get an MBA

LONDON: Malaysian professionals who hold an MBA from any of 50 British-approved institutions will stand a better chance of working in Britain.

They will automatically get 75 points – the minimum qualifying mark under the point-based system in the Highly-Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP), which came into force on Dec 5.

The move affects mostly doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers and entrepreneurs, who must score at least 75 points to cross the HSMP hurdle.

Westminster City Council Chinese liaison officer David Tan said the Home Office had set the new rules and guidelines for the scheme, with the HSMP category designed to attract people with very special skills and who were highly trained and qualified to work in Britain.

Tan said those awarded the MBA from one of the 50 Home Office-approved institutions from December 2004 onwards would be entitled to the 75 instant points.

The full list of approved institutions can be viewed at http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/

who got the most one night stand?

A GROUP of female students in a secondary school in Johor Baru are said to be competing among themselves to be the one with the highest number of one-night stands, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.

Each of the 10 students in the group, aged between 13 and 15 years old, would fork out between RM50 and RM100 to be in the game.

The student with the highest number of sex partners within a month would get a “reward”, which ranged from between RM500 and RM1,000, said the report.

Usually, a student would need between 13 and 15 sex partners to claim the “reward”.

It was learnt that the school had expelled some students involved in the activity, but the report added that it was still going on.

MAS fight back

KUALA LUMPUR: Good news for travellers. From Monday, MAS will implement its new fare structure, which will also see cheaper air ticket prices.

In keeping with the global trend, MAS as a full service airline will be taking on its local low-cost rival AirAsia by expanding its classes of fare from eight to 16.

A return economy air ticket to London during the low season could be as cheap as RM2,640 under the new structure while the present fare is RM3,685 (see picture).

new game on town...plastic frying pans

plastic frying pans for rubber eggs. The all-inclusive egg toss game has a pair of black-plastic 8" dia omelet pans and a life-size slimy naked egg with a yolk inside for playing catch. The harder you throw the egg, the more satisfyingly gloopy it becomes when it smacks into the pan and sticks there. Nice splaaaaap! sound too. Especially when it's peeled off and thrown back. Plenty of backyard potential, or the ultimate sous chefs' choice for relaxing in the kitchen after the lunch rush.

david beckham is quiting real madrid for LA

MADRID (Reuters) - Former England captain David Beckham will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and sign a five-year deal for MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, he told Reuters on Thursday.

"This week Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract for a further two seasons," said Beckham.

"After discussing several options with my family and my advisors to either stay here in Madrid or join other major British and European teams I have decided to join LA Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year.

"I would like to thank supporters and the people of Madrid who have made my family and I so welcome in my time here making this an extremely difficult decision to make.

"I have enjoyed my time here enormously and I am extremely grateful to the club for giving me an opportunity to play for such a great team and their amazing fans."

Real Madrid confirmed that Beckham would not renew his contract with the club.

His deal is reported to be one of the biggest in global sport with Beckham set to earn more than $250 million (128 million pounds) over the duration of his contract.

Having been first choice in the Real Madrid starting lineup since he moved to Spain, Beckham lost his place following the arrival of Italian coach Fabio Capello.

He has only started five of Real's 16 league games this season and was known to be frustrated with his lack of opportunities in the first team.

The former Manchester United player said he was now inspired by the challenge of cracking the American soccer market.

handwritten Beatles lyrics to be auctioned off in U.S.

PHOENIX (AP): The original, handwritten lyrics of The Beatles' melancholy rock song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps'' are going on the auction block Monday.

The lyrics, written by George Harrison on a single white sheet of paper in barely legible chicken scratch, are expected to fetch between $500,000 and $800,000 (euro384,970 and euro615,950) at the Barrett-Jackson Rock on the Block Memorabilia Auction in suburban Scottsdale, Arizona.

Britain-based entertainment auction house Cooper Owen, which is partnering with Scottsdale-based auctioneer Barrett-Jackson, is auctioning off the lyrics for a private collector and calls the sheet of paper "the most significant Beatles' lyric manuscript known to exist.''

"It's just a really significant and rare piece of memorabilia,'' said Neil Roberts, auction manager at Cooper Owen. "It shows the work in progress, the message, and the thoughts behind one of the band members.'' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps'' came out in 1968 on The White Album.

The lyrics, which are said to reveal the strains within the band at the time, include lines like, "I don't know how someone controlled you,'' and "They bought and sold you.''

But the sheet of paper up for bid also includes some lyrics that did not make it into the song that was on The White Album, including, "I look from the wings at the play you are staging,'' and "As I'm sitting here doing nothing but aging, still my guitar gently weeps.''

"These lyrics actually show the work in progress,'' Roberts said. "It shows how he (Harrison) changed certain lines. It shows it on the day he wrote that song and played it with his fellow Beatles.''

Also on the paper is a line at the bottom of the page that Harrison wrote in apparent frustration over the troubled atmosphere in the recording studio. It reads, "The band leader said he ain't playin' no more.'' Roberts said that line is most revealing. "It shows his feelings for how the band was going and almost the breakdown of communication,'' he said. "He kind of realized it was coming to end.''

Also up for bid at the Barrett-Jackson auction are dozens of celebrity items, including a pair of gloves Madonna wore during a concert, a book report written by Britney Spears, Cat Stevens' arrest card and Ella Fitzgerald's old credit card.

Lyrics: "While My Guitar Gently Weeps''

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it need sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know why nobody told you
how to unfold you love
I don't know how someone controlled you
they bought and sold you

I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps

I don't know how you were diverted
you were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
no one alerted you

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at you all
Still my guitar gently weeps

Oh, oh, oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah

Cisco sues Apple over use of iPhone name

SAN FRANCISCO (AP): Cisco Systems Inc. said Wednesday it is suing Apple Inc. in federal court over Apple's use of Cisco's registered iPhone trademark for its new handheld device.

Cisco has owned the trademark on the name "iPhone'' since 2000, when it acquired InfoGear Technology Corp., which originally registered the name.

And three weeks ago, Cisco's Linksys division put the trademark to use, releasing an Internet-enabled phone called "iPhone'' that uses the increasingly popular Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP.

On Tuesday, Apple unveiled the iPhone, its "game-changing'' touch-screen-controlled cell phone device that plays music, surfs the Web and delivers voicemail and e-mail.

"Cisco entered into negotiations with Apple in good faith after Apple repeatedly asked permission to use Cisco's iPhone name,'' said Mark Chandler, Cisco senior vice president and general counsel, in a statement. "There is no doubt that Apple's new phone is very exciting, but they should not be using our trademark without our permission.''

Cisco is seeking injunctive relief to prevent Apple from copying Cisco's iPhone trademark.

"Today's iPhone is not tomorrow's iPhone. The potential for convergence of the home phone, cell phone, work phone and PC is limitless, which is why it is so important for us to protect our brand,'' Chandler added.

new idea for air asia x

since air asia had decided to buy new planes for their business, i might suggest one theme for a few of their planes. this might boost their business for the nex few years.
i come across this airline while surfing the net. they are promoting hello kitty as the theme on the flight.
first is to get a hello kitty mascot onboard the flight.
dont forget to design the boarding pass for each class of flight.

this design will kill all the hello kitty fans

next is something for the guys...put in a whole crew of cute air stewardess. this will sure spice things up!!

another important part not to be miss...the food menu.

and also the food itself.

i'm sure the flight tickets will sell like hot cakes!! but i wonder how long will they last?

cheap flight back to malaysia!!!

(pic taken from here)
good news to fellow malaysian students in the UK. it doesn't matter you are studying or even working this will still somehow benefits you. read with cautious.
AIR ASIA X is coming...

come on...loose the tention!! its just good news. imagine the flight from london back to malaysia is only RM9.99!! now everybody can go back on every holidays they have got. this sure is a bloody good deal for us poor students.

Although no in-flight entertainment or food will be provided, i'm sure nobody will mind. just pack up a book or two for your very own in-flight entertainment or as usual just sleep your way through. its just RM9.99 for gods sake!! additionally, pack a bag of junk food plus a few sandwich will be enough to help u survive the long journey. cant wait till its operational!!!

By EILEEN NG 01.05.07, 4:15 AM ET

Malaysian aviation tycoon Tony Fernandes on Friday launched a new long-haul budget airline named AirAsia X, which will start flying to destinations in China and Britain in July.

"Ultimately the launch of AirAsia X will bring independence to the long haul low cost traveler by providing a choice of service for their long-haul travel requirement."Fernandes said at the launching ceremony.

Average ticket prices will be about half the price of full service airlines, he said.

Online sale of tickets will begin next month for initial service to Tianjin and Hangzhou in China, and to either Manchester or London in the United Kingdom. If AirAsia X ends up flying to London, it will operate from Stansted airport, said Fernandes, who is the majority owner of FAX with a 50 percent stake.

torchlight nightmare...

i came across this news recently...

One morning a few months ago in broad daylight, a girl was getting into her car when a few men approached her with what looked like a torchlight. Quite harmless looking. They pressed the "torchlight" into her back and immediately she went limp and very pale. So she wouldn't be able to fight back, they slashed her thigh with a parang and sped away in her car.

There were many people around and they quickly took her to the nearest clinic. There were two doctors at that time and they managed to stitch up her wound but the girl remained pulse-less and still pale as paper. No pulse, no BP (blood pressure). Just like dead. The doctors were confused as to how one wound on the thigh made the girl almost like dead? They managed to revive her and save her life.

After some checking around, the doctors found out what actually happened was that the girl was made unconscious not by a torchlight but actually a high voltage weapon. I forgot how many watts she mentioned. 1000!? Anyway, it was high enough to kill a person by electrocution.

It seems that this weapon is from China . It's not rampant yet in Malaysia , but with this thing, a person can rob, rape, kill, kidnap, and practically do anything to you. My doctor said that if the girl weren't taken to the clinic immediately she would have died because there was no pulse on her. So please just beware of your surroundings, if anybody is lurking around with a torchlight-thingy and approaches you, just scream or run away. Better to be embarrassed than ZAPPED and fried, right?
